ORGANIZATION OF MOUNTAIN MEADOWS
Incorporation: The Mountain Meadows Property Owners Association was registered with North Carolina Secretary of State as a
not-for-profit corporation June 22, 1984.
Official Seal: The official seal of the MMPOA was adopted by the first meeting of the Board of Directors on September 29, 1984.
As directed by the Bylaws, the seal is held by the secretary.
Board of Directors: According to the Bylaws, the Association is governed by a seven-member board elected for three-year terms, with the terms of two members expiring each year. Elections occur at the Annual Meeting usually scheduled for the month of August in Banner Elk. The Board is responsible for general management of the property including roads and adjacent spaces. The Board approves new buildings in accordance with the Declaration of Restrictions. The officers of the Board contract for snow removal on main roads.
Conduct of Meetings: The Board’s desire is to serve the needs of our community and its members as effectively and fairly as possible. It conducts its meetings in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order. The agenda is established in advance but may be modified by the Board as deemed necessary. Any MMPOA member may address the Board on any relevant issue, provided the wish to speak is made known to the President in advance. Action may be taken on each matter brought before the Board in any meeting, provided there has been enough advance notice to permit the Board to respond. The Board must have time to discover the relevance of a member’s request in light of the Bylaws, the Declaration of Restrictions, municipal and other laws and past actions of the Board. If an issue is brought to the Board during a formal meeting and prior notice does not allow proper research final action may not be feasible until a later date
